I'm putting a remote starter in my 1999 Ford Ranger with a manual transmission . I need to wire into the parking brake switch, a negative signal. The wires out of the switch are very well protected. Does anyone know what color wire I need to hook to and if it is more accessible somewhere other than at the switch?

Thanks, Mike

It's not a good idea to put a RS in a manual tran vehicle your asking for trouble. you could set your parking break and still forget to put it in neutral then you have a truck smashing thru your house.

Big Dave

This is a RS designed for manual transmissions, Ultra Start starter. While running you set the PB, tap the brake to arm the starter, remove the key with the truck running in neutral and the truck shuts off when you exit. The remote starter will not work if it is not armed. Entering the vehicle without RS disarms the start system.

I belive I solved the PB hook up. There is enough room to plug into the switch itself. Positive signal with no PB, negative when set.

Thanks,   Mike
