Hi

I have an Alpine SEC-8063 and my EXT-1 output is somehow unable to shut off.  It is wired (-) to a relay which operates underbody neons.  The EXT-1 output has been set as LATCHED in the programming setup, but for some reason the wire is remaining grounded to activate that relay and I can't shut it off.  I have already tried setting it as 1SEC, and CONT just to see if it would knock it offline when it times out, but it is not.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance

Latched means that it will have continuous signal until the same button is pressed again. Try this. Set the 8063 to latched and press the button to engage the neon. Press the button again and the neon should turn off.

I should probably explain the problem more in depth...

Here is the relay config :

87 -> 12+ V

86 -> 12+ V

85 -> to (-) EXT-1 output on Alpine 8063

30 -> to neon transformer

Lets just say for sh*ts n giggles that I have unplugged my battery cable..  So nothing has power at all.  Now I plug the battery cable in, and without touching any of the alarm buttons the neons are instantly coming on (and no there isnt a switch that is in the ON position, the neons are only hooked up to the alarm output)......it is as if the EXT-1 output line is stuck in (-) mode.  It should only be grounded when I press the button to activate it.  Somehow it will not release, even if I press the button repeatedly.  I'm not sure if this means the brain is fuxed up, or if there is some kind of manual reset or memory wipe I can perform on the brain....or if it is some other kind of electrical issue in the wiring.  I just cant get the output to disengage.

Would there be any electrical issues if both the EXT-1 and EXT-2 relays are running off the same 12+V wire?  I currently have one 14 gauge wire split 4 ways to power the 87 and 86 on both these relays....would this create a problem?

I have used the exact same relay config for EXT-2 (latched for blue LED's inside my a/c ducts).....EXT-3 (1sec for gas door pop).....EXT-4 (1sec for hatch pop)......and they are all working perfectly.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
