Just had a viper 791 XV installed in my new GT05. i have multiple questions and few dealer answers at this time may be you can help.

1-when armed, trunk does trigger the alarm if open with the key but the LCD on the remote does not turn the trunk dark like it does for the hood.is this normal?

2-when i arm the system right after exiting the car and the dome  light still on (it dim after 20 second to off from the factory) the alarm beep a second time to show me the door still open . then the remote/LCD indication of the dooropen  goes away. According to the installer i'm told that the error is normal due to the light delay. The question is, is the door get bypassed or does the system reset and effectively arm the door trigger as well? i was reading that if an input is not closed properly the alarm would bypass that input and arm everything else so yes i'm concerned.

3-my 791 came with a red LED, can i assume it is a recent model and if so is the shock sensor /warn away sensitivity can be adjusted from the remote or i have to get to it wherever they put it? if it can be done by the remote how do we enter that mode.

Thank for your help in advance, i hope that alarm will give me sevral years of good service as it is not a cheap one....

Nick

1. Does it indicate any zone on the remote? How many times does the led flash after triggering that zone. It will blink in a pattern of 1 to 6 blinks then pause for about 2 seconds and then repeat.

2. You can turn off "door sensor bypass chirp" in programming and you won't get that beep anymore. Feature 2-6 in the install book...page 41 on the version I have. The alarm will start monitioring the door trigger once the dome light shuts off.

3. You can't adjust the shock sensor on the alarm/remote start combo units. Only on the alarm only systems.

Thank for your answer....

1- i just realized that when i open the trunk and it  trigger in reality it is the two stage shock sensor that trigger, not the trunk. if i open it very slowly and nicely it does not do anything and the alarm does not trigger. i guess that mean they did not connect the trunk to the trunk manufacturer pin switch? is that parts of a normal install or extra in a normal situation?

2- i did turn off the door chip by following your instructions, thank you. i was just concern that this would by pass my door monitoring but aparently not.?

3- since i did not install the alarm, i guess the adjustment is on the box or on the separate shock sensor? ? i though i read somewhere on one of the posting that the new alarm (what it appear i have since i have a red LED) have that function on the remote unless i get mix up with the python alarm... i have read to many of these stuff the last few days....

if it is in the sensor, how long is the original harness? (to give me an ideas how far away from the main module they may have hide it..

Thank You Again

1.   The trunk pin is a positve trigger and can be found in the passenger kick. Color is WHITE/ yellow. I don't recall ever seeing a trunk pin wire being positive trigger. You could connect it directly to the positive door trigger input of the alarm (purple wire), but when you open the trunk it will indicate a door is being opened. Or, you can invert the polarity of the wire with a relay and connect it to the blue multiplexed wire on the primary harness and it will show the correct zone on the remote when the trunk is opened.

3. Do a google image search for DEI 504D and you will see a ton of pictures of what the shock sensor looks like.   Harness is about 12"

I repeat.... only the 2005 alarm models have the shock sensor adjustable by the remote. That feature will be on the alarm/remote start units when they revise them....which will probably be a year from now.

is the trunk wire on the passenger side kick panel on the 05 as well? i know when they installed the alarmoriginally (i was watching them) , a lot of the wire that were normally there (passenger side kick) where not  and they had to search on the left side and center console.

i guess i'm trying to be sure to save time that someone effectively found this trunck wires on a 2005 GT before.

Thank to confirm please as i'm going back there this am.

thank you
