Installed a remote starter into a 2004 Grand Marquis. Wrapped a second key for trans. bypass.
Customer says that when car is cold (in morning) rs doesn't work. The techs at Audiovox tell me that there is a problem with some Fords where the key does not work when it's cold.

We tried wrapping with different types of wire, 555U ect. Nothing helps.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

Use the PKF3. I've used these for the new Taurus' and we live in a climate that is cold most of the time and none of my customer's have had any problems with the vehicle not starting when it's -40 outside ( as long as the car is plugged in of course ).

You could also try powering up the 2nd starter wire see if that helps.

Jeff,

NowYaKnow is correct. There are two starter wires on this car. Power up the second starter wire. I got GREEN/ purple on my wire diagram.

Has anybody verified that doing the other starter wire (which I didn't know about either) will correct this problem?

There are two starter wire that needs to be power up for this car. The second starter wire is your cold start wire. If you miss this and fail to connect it. There is your problem right there. If you correct this, you eliminate at least one issue with starting the car in the cold. Just a thought.

Anytime you have a problem with Fords false alarming add a relay to the door trigger.

85: To (-) door trigger in vehicle
86: To 12v constant
30: To ground
87: To door trigger input on module

Just make you tie your domelight supervision wire into pin 85 or directly into the pink wire or obviously it won't work. Although I think on these vehicles it may turn the interior lights on automatically.. The other option is to hook a 10k resistor directly to 12v and tie that into the door trigger wire, but it doesn't always work.
