Hi,

As a Ford tech, I have installed my share of remote starters in Fords,

but I recently installed an Ultra-start  model U-3355A (2-way) into a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am.

The range is pathetic (about 45 feet).  I have checked the antenna wire for damage and even replaced it.

I replaced  the antenna as well.  The antenna is mounted  next to the rear view mirror with the tip just below

the tint in the windshield.

I have changed the battery in the remote, and tried a new remote.

I know there are a lot of professional installers on this web site, and I would really appreciate

hearing some tips from you!

Thank you,

DBFORDTECH.

Move the whole antenna below the tint.

U might try moving the RS Module also.  Have you tried setting the RS Module on the floor or hang from dash before U tie it all up to see if there is any difference?

Personally I would replace the wiring & antenna again with another unit. You may have gotten the unlucky streak of having more than one bad antenna. Try another one cause this may help the situation.

Window tint can also seriously affect the range. Try moving the antenna outside the vehicle for a test. As mentioned, try replacing the antenna and the cable for it.

Most good quality window tint has metal in it. That may be affecting the range....

try removing the antenna from its current location and un-bundle any leftover antenna wire. stretch out the antenna wire so that its fairly straight, temporarily place the antenna somewhere inside the car (high on the front or rear windshield would be good) and then go test to see if your range has improved. if yes, then try re-routing the antenna wire so that none of it is bundled together.
