I had a Clifford Supernova II alarm installed many years ago in Canada, then moved to Norway. This week my local mechanic repaired a short in a headlight and obviously cut the power (all the presets on the radio were reset.) My alarm seems to be dead. Can anyone tell med how I restart it ?(assuming it wasn't disconnected or fried by accident.) There's nothing in my owner's manual. Thanks in advance.
I would start by checking the fuses. If you can access the alarm module than you can check for power with a meter.
Thanks. Do you mean the normal fuses or fuses in the alarm module? I think I wil lhave to go into the module - where is it usually mounted - I don't thin I've ever seen it when adding oil, etc.
Sometimes I had luck by removing the 5A main fuse for the system, letting it sit for about a minute and then putting the fuse back in (it would reset the alarm/the 20A is for the parking light circuit and does not need to be removed). If that doesn't work then try and hold down the arm button on the remote to see if you can get it to panic and trip the system (it seems to me the older ones would get out of sync between the transmitter and the alarm brain).

Mine would act funny sometimes also and I would just unplug it and plug it back in. It works fine after that. As to where your alarm brain is mounted, that could be anywhere. It depends on how well the installer put it in.
Usually somewhere on the power line you will find a fuse holder. Perhaps even at the batter if the installer got power straight from the battery. If thats the case it could be that your mechanic didnt reconnect it. If you can find the alarm brain you can use a meter to see if the power wire is receiving voltage. You may want to try Custom Jims suggestions. He gave you pretty simple ideas to try. Let us know

I found the two inline fuses by tracing the wire from the battery and took out the 5A and put it back in. There was a chirp and everything works fine. Even the valet code is the same. What a relief to not have to open the main unit (I still don't even know where it is!) And sending the car back to the installer in Canada was of course not an option ;-) Thanks a lot!
