I've got a vehicle with an older modem Viper alarm system. So far I have not been able to identify which model is installed. There is no alarm modules in any of the easily accessible places, so I'm assuming the main module is somewhere behind the facia. All I know is that it possibly dates from 1992, it has a two button control with the FCC ID of EZS DEI467, and the valet/program switch is a toggle instead of the current pushbutton. Button I arms with one chirp, disarms with two chirps and activates panic if held down for a few seconds. Button II only activates silent arm/disarm if pressed before button I, but has no other apparant function. It also appears to have a shock sensor of some kind, again unidentified.

Does anyone have any idea what I may be dealing with here before I go mad and start ripping the car to pieces. I only want to tie power door locks and the trunk release into it, and rewire the parking light flash to the turn signals with a couple of relays. I've done many security installs in the past (the biggest took me a week and involved stripping the entire interior out of that vehicle - facia included!) but have always worked with new components. At this time money is in short supply so I work with what I have already got, and I am itching to get started on this one.

Hmmm....two suggestions:

1.  Can you trace back the valet button or the LED's wiring to try to find the module?  Maybe you can trace the siren from under the hood, through the firewall, into the cabin?

2.  Maybe call DEI (1-800-876-0800) and give them the information you have.  Maybe they can tell you the model from the numbers you have.  Although this won't help you in locating it really....just the model.

Thanks for the input.

All the easily accessible wiring from the valet switch, siren  and LED dissapears behind the facia. I've got to do some more dismantling when I install a new stereo in the coming weeks, so I'll dig deeper then.

It may be a moot point though - one of the remotes doesn't work even with a new battery, and I've been quoted almost $40 for a replacement from Remotes Unlimited. Not a vast amount, but it started me thinking about replacing the whole system. At least then I would know it was installed correctly.
