Just wired up my '97 Suburban today. The remote keyless works flawlessly.

Problem currently is that when the truck is remotely started, the damn parking lights flash on and off in an odd pattern. I can here the relays clicking in the remote start brain. Any ideas?

I wonder if that is attributed to the fact that I might have not have hooked up a second ignition that I believe is causing the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light to come on (and preventing my trans from shifting correctly---reseting the PCM fixes that crap).

Thanks!

While car is running when remotely started, parking lights should flash. Odd pattern? I don't know. As for you CEL, just get a reset from the stealership. Chances are you disconnected something and threw a code.

depending on the brand of remote starter you've installed, flashing parking lights is the norm. most dei remote starter products have that as a default, and also the newer black widow remote starters. you should be able to change that setting to constant "on" during remote start through the programming options. however, the pattern should not be odd, but instead, should be a steady consisten pattern.

as for your second ignition, it is necessary for you to give pwr to that wire on remote start to prevent the troubles that you've encountered. good luck!

You definately can't just leave the 2nd ignition unpowered during remote start and just expect to deal with the issues. You will destroy your transmission. If your not going to hook it up at least turn the engine off and then completely restart with key before you drive so that all the computers start up in the right sequence.

Just attached the 2nd ignition wire to the system. Service Engine Soon light problem is fixed as is the trans mess.

Parking lights are still flashing; it is a regular pattern and not odd. I'll re-check the feature settings.

Will keep u posted,

Thanks!

Yep, the flashing parking lights is a modifiable feature in the options menu. Took care of that!
