A while ago, I installed a remote start\ alarm unit in a 97 Buick Park Ave. It gave me a ton of trouble then, and the saga continues. Aparently now, the alarm will sometimes go off for no real reason. This still happens with the shock sensor disabled. Also after remote start, the security light comes on and stays on. It doesn't do so with the key. I did this install quite a while ago and it was probably one of the first five remote starters I did. What did I miss?

What did you do to bypass the Passkey III system on the Buick ? This is the major problem you will have and the other problem is if you connected the the second ignition wire.

I used a bypass unit from Ultrastarter that uses one of the vehicles keys. It starts ok, but that security light comes on

Disconnect each trigger one by one and when the problem goes away with one of the triggers disabled, then you know which trigger point is the problem. Make sure that you have the key seated tight in the bypass module. If it moves outside of it's " sweet spot " the RS will start the car but will sometimes give you an error.
