I'm installing a Code Alarm CA140 and the wires that they provide to plug in the antenna module are 8 foot long and have a specific plug on each end. The control module will be in the back of the car and in order to mount the antenna receiver (module) near the rear view mirror, I'll have to lengthen the wires.

Will this cause a problem?

I think it will cause a problem. The antenna wires on the majiority of the units are preset. Also, why would you mount it to the back of the car? This is creating way more work then you need.

I'm mounting the unit in the spare tire area, within a "secure" box.

I don't see why lengthening the wires  would cause problems. They are not the antenna, just the connection between the alarm module and the antenna module.

Wes,

In all honesty, why dont you just mount the unit under the dash, why break your stones putting it in the trunk? The trunk is complete overkill and 100% unnecessory. All I can say about the antenna wire is try it! I never need a longer wire because I never had the need to. But I did try to lengthen the wires on an led before and it dident work.
