Raidoshack does not has 1N4002 and they only has 1N4001 and 1N4003. Which one I can us for the dome light delay? Also if the diode rate is 50V, it that mean it only can handle 50V? If the alarm has only 12V. I can use either 1N4001 or anything higher rating diode?

I believe you can use the IN4001 without any problems.

1N4001= 1A diode
1N4003= 3A doide
Either will work.... the only time you should be concerned about the voltage rating of a diode in a car is if you are using zener diodes (highly uncommon, and unlikely). The current rating is more important.... 1A will take care of most applications.... 3A or 6A will work well for things like isolating VW parklight circuits.

Technical correction Gus,
The 1N4000 series rectifiers are all rated at 1 AMP. The difference in values is the PIV or Peak Inverse Voltage that they can handle.
1N4001 = 1 Amp, 50v PIV
1N4002 = 1 Amp, 100v PIV
1N4003 = 1 Amp, 200v PIV
etc.
The 1N5400 series are the 3 AMP rectifiers,
1N5400 = 3 Amp, 50v PIV
1N5402 = 3 Amp, 200v PIV
1N5404 = 3 Amp, 400v PIV
etc.
The price difference between a 50v diode and a 200 - 400v diode is usually only a penny or two, so I usually purchase the higher rating as an added margin of safety.
You're right about the current rating, when in doubt, use a 3 amp diode instead a 1 amp.
