I have installed about 20 compustar units, and have not encountered this problem on any cars except mine. This problem only started happening recently. Here's the problem: Upon remote starting, the stater will continue to crank, but the car will not start, crank crank crank. Sounds like a simple fix you say? Nope. This problem only happens IF the car has been sitting for over 30 minutes. If I try to start it BEFORE 30 minutes, it will start just fine. NOTE: I'm not sure on EXACTLY how long it is after I can't start it, the 30 minutes is just a ballpark range.
It is NOT the immobilizer bypass, I checked to see if the key icon flashes on the dashboard to does not come on. It is NOT the tach sense, if it were the tach sense, the car would atleast start, not continue cranking.
If I get in my car, and reactivate reservation mode, and remote-start it right after, it will work fine. Like I said, it only happens after I've been parked for X amount of minutes or more.
I've come to the conclusion that it is just a faulty compustar brain. Does anyone have a better conclusion to this? Has anyone encountered a problem like this?
If it is infact a faulty brain, it is very dissapointing to me. I'm not an "authorized dealer", because I simply do not trust any shops to touch my car. I've gone to apply for jobs at local shops, and NONE of them solder. Hell, one of the guys didn't even know what soldering was! "So you weld the wires together?" he said... Anyway, anybody have any suggestions about what to do? I doubt compustar's going to cover my warranty, and the seller I purchased it from a year ago has fallen off the face of the earth. Suggestions?

Just another note, it's a 2wss-as with the CM3000 brain, version 1. I got this right after the black 1-way SS remotes came out.

What make, model and year vehicle is this ? What tach wire did you use ?

98 honda prelude Blue tach wire behind the gauge cluster. Tach wire was taken directly from the service manual, not the DEI tech sheet. If it were a tach wire issue, why would it work before the X minute mark, but not after. Also, I believe the tach wire is what tells the starter to STOP cranking after the engine has been STARTED, AND to tell the compustar that the car is indeed running. It feels as if one of the ignition wires is not getting power. *shrug*

what did you use for bypass?
I've had 1 or 2 of the CM4200's with no ign or crank outputs, but this was right out of the box.

DEI 555D. It's not the immobilizer bypass either. I have verified it by putting my actual key in the slot (like you were to do during programming). Same result. Seems like a compustar problem.

TTT Seems to happen about 30 seconds - 1 minute after reservsation mode is set. Remote starting before then will work after 30sec-1min, wont work =-( anyone?

the tech wire is "blue" correct on Honda.
Sound like you have a tech wire issue. Installed a compustar on a '97 Ford F150 it have the same problem. Changed a couple brains and it starts fine on the first tried and waited 10 minutes then it over cranks.
Had to find a different tech wire from the BCM and it fixed the issue. Customer was very happy and gave me a tip.

If the brain is faulty, you can send it to Compustar in Seattle. It will cover it under warranty. It comes with a limited Lifetime warranty from Compustar.
