Can I just used the door lock wire and tap into the lock switch in my highlander without adding a relay. Search the forums and somebody said yes and other said no. Can any of the expert here can give me a straight answer for that.

Thanks!!

i'm not an expert but i know the highlander needs relays for the door locks.

Clifford RSX 3.5 should have the DEI 451M relay pack for locks. You can connect it directly, yes.

f00dstamps said you needed a relay. I said the rsx 3.5 comes with the 451M relay pack. Use that relay pack to connect to the door lock/unlock wires. What else do you need help with ?

Yes you have to use one for sure also need diodes. On some toyotas with this lock system you have to use relays to have a higher amprage ground than what the brain can put out. look at this link for wiring diagram.

my 2002 Sequoia is the same.  You MUST use relay (unless the alarm has onboard for locks - just as easy to wire one in if you have it).  You MUST interrupt the "lock detection" wire while locking.  If you study the 1070 document and wire it EXACTLY as shown you should be fine.  If you want to wire for "progressive" or "2 stage" locking, then there's a different recipe (if so, email me:  bretbowman@yahoo.com)
