I can't seem to find the right pair to put the resistor on on my 92 Coupe DeVille to bypass the passkey thingy...I cut into a couple of pairs of the ones that I though were the ones and checked the resistance with and without the key and those didn't match up. I don't want to be cutting into all of them or I'm asking for trouble. So does anybody know what colors to look for? Will they be seperate from the other ribbons of wires? I thought they would come out with the rest of the ignition switch wires, but all those are heavy guage and I can't see them being there to carry a small resistance...Any help?

Your resistance is in the key, not in the ignition.

I know that, but when the key is in the ignition, there's gotta be 2 wires that cary the resistance to the passkey module, which checks if it's right or not. The 2 wires should have a resistance of 0 without the key, and witht the key in the ignition, shouldn't the resistance on the pair of wires match the resistance on the key? Those are the 2 wires i need....

they are the wires inside the orange tube that looks like a phone wire. really small white wires becareful stripping the wire they are very thin. good luck

Hmm...I was messing with those, but the resistance was a little lower so i went on, but then I tryed starting my car a few minutes later and my security light stayed on and wouldn't start. So I know i was on the right track. I let a few minutes pass and it starts just fine...I'll slap a resitor on them tomorow, too dark now.

make sure you get a 1% tolerance resistor if possible you wont have to worry about it going out of range during extreme temp changes.
