I have a '94 Integra hatchback. I am in the final phases of installing my stereo, but I am having my alarm installed locally (compustar 2wss-as) and was thinking of having one of the functions on the remote to where it would pop the trunk open and then open itself via actuators. Just a couple questions on this though. Has anyone here done it? Would the actuators simply take place of the two gas-struts that normally hold the hatch up? I have a pretty heavy hatch (w/ wing and all). I bought a brand new set of hatch struts and they crapped out in a week. Any suggestions on this, how I might or might not go about doing it, etc.?

you need linear actuators that are electrically operated off off your alarm. regular actators or poppers won't do the trick, unless all you want to do is "pop" the trunk and lift it yourself.
