Does anyone how to put the gray wire (trunk) into a relay. The wire turns positive when I press the pin

My friend told me to wire this relay differently, the trunk pin is in the center (behinf hand break in the box with the key lock). I connected
87 and 86 to 12V fused (30amp)
87a from coming from the trunk pin switch
30 going in the direction of the trunk
85 alarm ( in my Prestige aps 996a went to channel 3 control relay (-)
