hi

i have 1997 fiat marea which has central locking so i bought giordon 686 alarm kit to add alarm and remote central locking the marea has negative control signal to acctuate door lock/unlock but i tried attaching the two pulse wires from alarm unit to the two pulse leads on the door wiring, nothing happens. the alarm works ok apart from that. anyone help? please.

there are some other wires in the door harness such as two 12volt + one earth and one 4volt+

maybe i need a relay, hope not as i like things simple.

Hi;

1997 Fiat marea(UK):
Power lock---lt blue
Power unlock--white
located in 18 way connector A.B.I unit behind the glovebox. Negative pulse.

Giordon 686 alarm has 6 wire use for doorlock/unlock.
But Negative trigger doorlock/unlock system only use 4 wire.
Wiring as below;
orange and ORANGE / black wire---no use.
white wire---connect to vehicle power lock wire.
WHITE/ black wire---connect to vehicle power unlock wire.
yellow and yellow/black wire---connect to grand.

Good luck!

hi  thanks for your reply

i had alarm on bench tonight and the output looks like two relays , your advice is as i thought but i cant help thinking that the car needs 12volt + signals to operate the lock /unlock. did you asume the marea is negative trigger from my first message or do you know for a fact that it is? should i use protection diodes in the relay line to prevent shorts when using normal key to open close doors?

anyway thanks again

hi

fitted alarm today and i understand now negative pulse. the blue and white wires on the harness are normally at 4volts or thereabouts, they need a quick short to ground and the doors lock and unlock.

the 686 has two relays which if you connect each relay to ground and each wire they pulse respectively.

the relay on the car is confined in the cdl unit (a black pvc box) under the dash behind the glove box.

i was looking for something much more complicated, i just couldnt see the simple truth.
