I have a alipne 8026a with the EXT button and I wanted to know how I could use this to remotely open my trunk. The alarm is the factory installed option on my '93 Del Sol. This specific year model doesn't have the remote trunk release anywhere in the car so I already know that I would need an actuator for the trunk. Any ideas would be appreciated.

you would have to add a trunk relese siloniod and runthe wire back to the alpine brain and hook it up to aux channel one

From my understanding and reading lately. I would need a relay between the silonoid and the aux channel of the alarm unit right?

Absolutely needed. Alpine's EXT outputs only 200mA(-). This wire must be connected to optional relay.

So here is my big question.  Can I use just any relay or do I have to have the specific one made by alpine listed in my manual (alpine 8329 relay)?

You can use any SPDT relay.

85 to Alpine brain(EXT)

86 to fused 12v constant

30 to ground OR fused 12v constant (one controll the actuator)

87 to actuator
