I was reading a thread a few weeks back (of course I can't find the stupid thing now) where someone mentioned using heat shrink that was not tubular. If this is true, I would like to know where I can get some...it would be great to use when splicing into an existing wire (so you don't have to cut the original wire in two). Anyone hear of this before??
dont know about split heat shrink, but i have been using 3m vulcanizing black tape you pull it tight and it will chemically bond to itself, we use it on ac house applications,it`s real thick(you have to cut it off) it`s available at most electric supply houses.
no its not possible to have heat shrink tubing thats split but they do sell heat shrink tape if thats what you mean, you can split a wire and wrap the heat shrink tape around it and have it sealed as if it were tubing....... look at your local shop that sell soldering equipment they should have some

That peticular type of tape is going to be hard to use in a bundle of wires. Just use some good electrical tape, super 33 and if you are really worried about it just use a small zip tie around it.

I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.
I'm partial to heat shrinking...it seems to do such a nice job...I haven't seen heat shrink tape around anywhere, I guess I'll have to search online...I split my own heat shrink, but you have to cut it in a spiral shape for it to work...which takes a LONG time! I'll have to check out that super 33 i keep hearing about as well...thanks!
