Alright. Get ready this is going to be a long post. I recently purchased a brand spanking new 2005Ford F-150. Nicest vehicle I've ever owned. Not to mention the only new vehicle. I took it to a buddies shop looking for a great alarm that do a couple of things: window roll up and down, remote start, and output for future accessories(horns, etc). He talked me into getting an AvantGuard 5 citing it was the best alarm on the market to protect my prized possession. I was immediately sold. The install took the better part of the day. The installer did a great job but now I have 2 problems.
During the install we were having a problem with the alarm not being able to be actively armed with the remote. The dome light stays on an extraordinarily long time on the new truck and the alarm would activate if you pressed the lock button. The installer stated the doors triggers have to go off of the dome light. After messing with it for a while, he decided to "install a relay that detects the doors but bypasses the domelight". Only problem is now, the warning you are supposed to get if you leave a door open doesn't happen. The alarm will arm with a door open. The doors are still protected but that feature is not available.
Next problem is the relay. Every time a door is opened I hear the relay power up under the dash...sounds almost like a cricket. Took it in and he swapped out the "no name" relay for one of his personal stash Bosch relays. Though not as loud I still have the noise under the dash.
Is there a solution for either one of these? I would appreciate the help.
ok the easy one first relays you will always here they click all the time secondly, tell the install guy to take out that relay and wire up every thing as it was....... but this time read the manual to the alarm system, it should have a way in there to program the delay time on the interior lights to a minimum....so they wont be on as long or if you have the manual and your a pretty techy guy yourself read it and do it, its only a few pushes of some buttons and your problem will be solved...... hope this helps
The domelight delay isn't alarm controlled...it's a ford feature. The delay from the alarm wasn't long enough to allow for the fords dome light. (tear) I think.....
If you use the wires that are connected to the last two buttons on the keypad on the outside of the door 7/8 and 9/0
Red & Yellow diode isolate, this will get past the dome light delay on the alarm. This will lock and arm. Disarm needs to be triggered with the unlock wire, its in the drivers kick, GREEN/ purple ALL are NEG(-)
Is your truck an extended cab....all of the door triggers can be found in the drivers side REAR running board. Again, diode isolate and use em all.

Personally, if the alarm delay wasnt long enough, i would of hooked up a 528T timer to disconnect the door trigger for just that additional amount of time needed.
