Well ordered the truck anyway, should be here in about 3 weeks.  I'm looking to start researching what alarm to get.  I don't want to break the bank though.  Here are a few of the features/standards I want.

Two way remote, and have buttons that aren't so easily hit in my pocket (like my old viper 791xv)

Very nice and long range.

Remote start

A couple outputs, for window roll up, and other misc things

Maybe has the ability to tie into the factory keypad that is on the door of the truck

And comes with an external shock sensor

I know that these features are in most remote start alarms.  But some are better then others.  SO let me hear what you guys suggest.  I've always been a fan of Viper alarms, so I don't know how reliable others are.

Thanks,

Chris

Hey Chris, look at teh Compustar 2W900FM or 2W8000FM series systems. I have installed many systems in the past and have had very little trouble with these units. The range, user functions as well as installer features are second to none. Price is very reasonable & tech support is also very good.

2W900FM-AS is the one I am going to go with.  Has the 3000 foot range.  I saw on the compustar site that the have one with a 6000 foot range, but in the description for the 2W900FM-AS it says it has a longer battery life.   Features look good and it looks like a high quality alarm.  My only question though is, where are the buttons on the 2way transmitters?  I'm assuming they are on the sides of the remote, but I couldn't find a picture of this.  Are there four buttons?

only issue I have now is finding somewhere to buy it.  Ebay only has two of them listed and one of those auctions has a different part number in the description.  And Froogle only came up with one result.

What should I expect to pay for the 2W900FM-AS from the three results I got, looks like about $225.  That sound right?
