I just got a Viper 791XV installed(professionally) on my '03 Trailblazer. The problem I have is when I remote start, the headlights and parking lights flash, not just the parking lights. Was the wrong wire tapped, or is that just one of the problems with the T/B?? I would think the parking lights only could be tapped, but I checked the install, and the grey/black wire was tapped for the lights. That is what the DEI wiring diagrams say to use. (For a '-' tap anyway) I looked for the brown wire to tap, but all I saw was a BROWN / white wire that is connected to the headlight switch. (For "+") Any ideas would be appreciated. I hate remote starting early in the morning because I live in an apt complex, and with the lights flashing on and off, it would be quite annoying for anyone in front of my vehicle. I tried unhooking the lights all together to see if that would work, but all it does now is turn on the lights without the flash. Normally the lights will come on automatically depending on the darkness outside, and the daytime running lights turn on as soon as you put the vehicle in drive, not when you just start. With the lights (white wire from alarm) disconnected, the car remote starts with the headlights on continuously. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

The parking light wire IS brown, and you can find it running under the stearing column. Why havent you taken the vehicle back to the shop that installed it and asked THEM to fix the problem??? When you start poking around on an install yourself, some shops will tell you to "get off" Be carefull. They might not want to help you once you've dove into it your self. -------------

Its not the headlights that are coming on its the driving lights. The problem is when the parking lights are on the driving lights are off but when they turn off to flash the driving lights will come on. The easest way to fix it is to program the rs so that the parking light are on solid not flashing.

Thanks for the reply, both of you. In reply to Kar Tuneman, I called them and the installer said that is a quirk of the vehicle, not their fault, so they won't attempt to fix it. As far as the wire being brown, like I said, I looked at all the wires coming from the light switch (located on the left of the dash) and the only wire that were close had a white stripe coming down the side of them. There were 2 BROWN / white wires, but neither of them changed voltage when the parking lights were switched on. Chris354, How do I reprogram the rs to not flash the lights. I have the install guide, and I will check it, but you may know it off the top of your head. Thank you so much for your replies, I look forward to hearing from you again.

in the install guide under prgramming options it says parking lights - flashing or constant. Program them for constant.... i program every DEI piece i install for constant.....

The wire your looking for is in a fairly large harness the runs fro R to L under the column. The tach and brake light wire are also in this harness. This brown wire should not affect your daytime running lights. You can also get it (same color) at the fuse box under the back seat.! Good luck AND, when you fix the problem, maybe be a hero to the shop that put yours in, and tell em about your solution to the problem.......they should have been able to fix it. -------------

kgerry-----Thank you SO MUCH!!! I went out there are reprogrammed it and it fixed my problem. I don't mind the parking lights on constant. It isn't like I am not going to know that I had remote started my vehicle. Thank you SO much. KarTuneMan---Thank you for your reply also, instead of messing with the install, I found it easier to just reprogram the alarm for contant lights. Thank you very much!! They guy that installed it has 18 years experience (or so they say) and I am surprised he didn't know about either of these fixes. You guys rock!
