I would like to know if it is possible (safe) to remove the factory security control module without  inadvertingly causes any problems as I intend to install an after market alarm with keyless entry feature.  I would appreciate any info and thanks in advance for helping.

I would just leave the factory one in and bypass it witht he new alarm that you have lined up . This will cause alot less problems with your car and if there are any problems then you know that it's the aftermarket alrm and not the fatory one that is causing you problems. Most alarms and remote starters are capable of bypassing or integrating into the factory alarm systems.

To bypass factory alarm with aftermarket alarm:

  • Locate door lock module located above and to the right of the steering column
  • You will find 18ga. GREEN/ blue .This is the factory  alarm disarm wire
  • Test this wire by placing key in driver door and turn key to unlock doors.  While doing this you will see a negative pulse evey time doors are unlock with key not switch.
  • Hook up your (-) unlock output from alarm to 18ga. GREEN/ blue from car. This will unlock your doors and disarm factory alarm at the same time.
  • If it only unlocks driver door then you need to double pulse.  Check your manual to see if alarm has this feature.
  • GOOD LUCK

Thanks for helping and I assume if I want other functions (e.i. flashing lamp, chirp,...) then locate these wires from the built-in alarm and bypass them, right?  OK then will this cause any short circuits if both systems are triggered at the sametime?

Thank You.

There should not be any short circuits because all you are doing is introducing a different wire into the circuit that does the same thing. I would onlt use the door lock wires and the door trigger wires from the factory alarm and tap into the ignition harness for power, ignition and other wires you require. This way the wire is capable of handling the extra current draw.
