I just discovered this site, seems really cool. I've been installing my own stuff/ installing for friends for a long time, could have used these resources!
My question is about my 1995 Nissan 240SX. It has the factory KARR security system, which is not really even an alarm. It has the small keyfob with no buttons, which must be close to the dash in order to start the car. There is a small blinking light installed under the dash with a button on the rear of it.
This morning when I went to start the car, it would not start. I get power for my stereo, lights, etc. But it won't turn over. It acts exactly like it does if I forget to hold the KARR keychain thingy close enough. I notice though that the light, which is usually blinking, is now on solid red.
I drove my other car to work, and didn't have time to mess with it. I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with this particular system? The first thing I'll try it just disconnecting the battery and cleaning the posts (which are getting kinda crusty) then reconnect and see if that works. But I'm betting there is also some way of resetting it with the button on the rear of the blinking light. any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
PS There is the possibility of it being a problem with something else in my car--it's kinda old and crappy. But my battery is fairly knew, my fuses are all good, everything is installed/grounded properly.
