Ok, couple of things...
First up, door locks...Directechs says that lock needs a negative trigger through a 4.7K Ohm resistor, and Unlock needs a negative trigger to the same wire. I understand that part, but it also says that I must use relays. Why must I use relays?? Why can't I just hook up the unlock wire from the alarm (Viper 771) to the wire in the car, and also hook up the lock wire the same way (except with a resistor on it). I don't understand why relays are needed.
Next, I'm doing remote start, but the car has standard transmission. So, I must bypass the clutch. I know how to do it, but I do have a question that is related. Once I bypass the clutch, the car can be started without pressing it in, so I guess theoretically, if the car isn't left in neutral, it will lurch forward (It's my girlfriend's car, and she NEVER ever leaves it in anything but neutral). I know that some cars have a neutral safety wire, but as I understand it, this is only on automatics so that they can't be started in "drive". Am I right about this?? Or does this car (stick shift) have a neutral safety wire too?? If it does, I would rather use it...it's just much safer obviously. If not, is there any other way to keep the car from starting in anything but neutral??
Thanks in advance.
Ohh, one more question...has anyone ever tried to add an actuator to pop the trunk on this car?? I don't even know if its possible, I haven't really looked yet. I have a standard 2-wire actuator, thought it would be a cool add on if possible.
Some alarms limit the voltage output on the pulse side of the wires ( I.E. 500ma ) some of the vehicles using resistors need the relay before them or they sometimes dont work. and on the second question you can start stick shift vehicles in any gear as long as the clutch is pressed in or bypassed, unless your vehicle has shift position indicators letting you knowing what gear its in when the vehicle is running then you could use them and diode isolate each of them to make sure it doesn't start in gear.
Use a door popper actuator, it will reset all the time and do the job you are looking for. 2 wire actuators should only be used for lock / unlock...
