I want to install a hood pin, but I'm not sure how to make the connections.  First, I assume these switches are normally open, so that when the hood is opened the switch will ground. So, do I connect the trigger (+) wire directly to this switch?  Or do I make a circuit of some kind with perhaps a light so there is a change in the power state to trigger the alarm?  Or???  Sorry, really a pretty basic question, I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually, but you can save me some frustration!

TIA,  Bill

Hi Bill, typically the hoodpin would be mounted to a grounded part of the vehilce whether it's on a metal bracket or through a hole near the front or side (or even rear) of the engine compartment. When the hood is open, ground will show on the lead connected to it's terminal. Connect this lead to a negative trigger input of your alarm.

I guess I like to make things much more complicated than they really are.  I originally thought this would be all it would take, but hey, nothing can be that simple!

Thanks!
