i am hooking up an alarm to an 87 caravan and have run into little problems:

first, when i connect the hood/trunk lead of the alarm to the rear gate pin, i close all doors and the message GATE OPEN comes up on the dashboard....

second, i cant connect the power locks to the alarm... the relays just get HOT and buzz... but i cant seem to find the problem in them... everything is hooked as alarm manual and the info here says.... (5wi reversing)

any advice is apreciated

Cut tan/black, install 1 amp diode with band facing rear hatch. Tap alarms hood/trunk trigger wire to band side of diode. That will fix the hatch pin problem. As far as the door locks I suggest you disconnect the wires from the relays and double check them something has to be backwards.
