i put a remote start on a 2001 grand cherokee.   i have the transponder interface with the key in it and as far as i know, i thought everything was wired right.  but it will not stay running.  it will start and run for about 2 seconds and quit.  i have it programmed in fixed crank mode.  for some reason it did start and stay running once, but then i turned it off and tryed again and it just dies everytime.  does anyone have any suggestions about something im not doing right and how to fix it??

i appreciate any info!!

Doesn't sound like the bypass module is working properly or the programming was not sequenced properly. What interface are you using and what RS system ?

i am using a carbine pl-70 remote start  system and a carbine rs-tim  transponder interface with it.  now sometimes it will start the first time you try to start it with the remote and sometimes it takes two or three trys for it to finally start.  i have tried it on the voltage reading mode and the fixed crank mode and it does the same thing on both modes.

Is the RS-TIM unit a keyless unit or a key required unit ?

i use the carbine sytems as well do about 20-30 a month you need to get the tach and program it to the unit it is the only way they work consistently. just grab any odd color injector wire from driver side. and follow instructions in the back of the owners manual. if you need me=ore assistance just let  me know.

Something else is to make sure that the key is seated tight in the module. Depending on how you mounted the bypass box, when it gets hot and cold in the vehicle, the key can shift positions and loose it's" sweet " spot in  the module.

Stick another key in the ignition, and then try to remote start it----if it works now, then you have transponder troubles----if it still doesn't work, the transponder bypass is likely good, and your troubles lie elsewhere.

Many remote starts have some type of diagnostic mode, where an LED or the parking lights will tell you why the car failed to start.  It may be useful to try this.
