I bought a Code Alarm 420 and cannot get it wired right.The remote start works when the key is in the ignition.I cannot find the ground wire for the door unlock.The guy said i would find an orange wire by the kick panel that would be real dim (test light,neg) and then be brighter when i hit the unlock with the key in the door.I found the wire but it would not get brighter when i hit the switch.This scenario would work when i try the wires on the lock/unlock switch.Where is this wire i need?? ------------- bob

That van is equipped with Passkey III which you will need a bypass for. Did you install any sort of bypass? It will work with a key in the ignition because it is seeing a valid key and allowing the vehicle to start and run. You can use the GMBP or if you don't mind losing a key just a normal key in the box bypass.
Also for the unlock wire I'm assuming your looking for the wire to disarm the factory alarm? If so you want an ORANGE / black wire coming in from the drivers door boot. If you don't hookup the factory alarm disarm wire the alarm will only get 1 honk out before disarming on it's own when remote starting.

I installed bypass and that works ok but I cant find the ORANGE / black wire.I found three orange wires and I tryed all of them , same problem.Everything works good unless i want to lock doors.When doors are locked and i press the remote start the horn(alarm) goes off.

To disarm the factory alarm without unlocking the doors, use a 0.8 second pulse on the unlock wire. The ORANGE / BLACK is also your unlock wire.

You will have to get this wire in the drivers door jamb boot. Undo both sides of the boot, push the boot into the door except the other end so you can get it back out.

You don't go in the door, you go to the door BOOT. That is the easiest way to go about this.
