I am working on a 2001 windstar that has an aftermarket (code alarm) security system. The  vehicle owners stated ever sisnce the system was installed the drivers side window will not go up, the pass. side mirror will not work, and the stereo will not shut off. The vehicle was taken back to the install shop who advised they adjusted the sensitivity and all should be fine. All remained the same, I have noticed the windows that do work will operate without the ignition on, and the stereo will turn off manually, but if left on will not shut off when the ignition is turned to the off position. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

was there a check in list filled out on all this stuff before you satrted work?  I mean are ya sure it all worked prior to your install?????..

Im sorry, I just read the post again, you did NOT do the install, correct? Youre just the poor mechanic that gets to try and clean up after a sloppy install, correct?

This thing needs to go back to the install shop and STAY till its fixed....these kind of problems are more than an inconvienience, the customer could be left straded on the side of the road. If it cant be fixed ....the customer should demand the product be removed, for a refund!!

just my opinion

I am stuck with anothers mess, unfortunately I am not very familliar with security systems. I am assuming the system was operational other than the items previously mentioned, however I was asked to finish this repair after one of my fellow mechanics had attempted the repair with no success.

The original installer stated they had nothing to do with this vehicles problems and refuse service to the vehicle owners. I attempted to gain info through one of thier techs. and they were less than helpful

Does the problem go away if you unplug the codealarm or any other aftermarket modules?

I feel for that customer he should have called consumer hot line to report the shop. Now he can't cuz in there eyez someone else tampered with the poor alarm install. I would of chewed somebody out if I got my car back in those conditions.
