I have a 94 camaro z28, that i got not too long ago from a semi-private dealer. I was told that the car had an alarm, and it came with a keyless entry button. But ive tested it before the alarm doesn't arm when I lock the doors from the button? I was questioning whether it was just a keyless entry type of button or a stock alarm, but when i start the car the security light flashes. I had a mechanic look at it and he said there might be a hidden manual on/off switch for the alarm itself. I've installed some stereo equipment and when i took the dash apart i did some searching and i have yet to find it. I was just wondering if anybody knew if it actually had a switch or am I gettin BS'ed by the dealer?
I also forgot to add that the OEM keyless entry remote just recently stopped working. It sorta like faded out like it had a dieing battery, so I put a new battery in it and it doesnt work at all now? I thought i got the wrong battery so i got another one and it did the same thing. The keyless entry worked like a charm when i first got it and then it slowly got worse, I had to push the button harder, or get closer to the car.
If U have the STOCK Factory Remote, ther are Aftermarket & Dealer Alarms that will Arm / Disarm from the Factory Remote. U could look for a Valet Button / Switch or look under dash for any Add-On wiring.
On your Remote problem: U may want to look for a 12 Volt shop that has a Frequency Meter to check your Remote RF Signal
Program Remote:
Locate DATA Link Connector on bottom of Driver Dash, Right of Steering Column.
Hook Jumper wire to PIN G ( BLACK/ White wire ) to Ground. Doors should Cycle in 1 - 3 seconds.
Press ANY Button on Transmitter. Doors should cycle for confirmation. Program other Remotes also.
Remove Jumper wire to exit programming.
