well i have a 92 honda civic that has a remote starter installed now the thing is i got a check engine light ,when i did the remote start i powered up a second accesory there was 2 wires that both lost power while cranking so i got them both hooked up through relays.i saw only one ignition wire a yellow wire and that is what i used as my primary ign,the car starts up with remote no problem but the check engine light is on whether i use the key or the remote i will double check my wires tommorow and disconect the battery hopefully i can reset the computer so the light goes away. Does anyone know this car who can tell me if they have seen this before. If anyone has, did the light go away by disconecting battery or will it need to go to a dealer to be reset?
Interesting ...... The 92 Civic ( most Honda's ) only have a single ACCESSORY wire and early model had 1 ignition wire and later models had 2 ignition wires. That's odd that the CHECK RNGINE light would come on ?? I had this happen on some GM's amd Nissan's, but I isolated the starter wire with a relay and it went away.

well, from what i know, there are 5 wires in the ignition. 12v+, acc, ig1, ig2, and starter.... when u install the remote starter, ig1(wire that shows 12v+ on multimeter when in ON position, but 0v or 2 to 3v+ when cranking, 12v+ when engine is running) would be wire that powers the air-conditioning when u start the car.... ig2 (wire that shows 12v+ on multimeter when in ON position, and also 12v+ while cranking, 12v+ when engine is running) is the one that is needed to start the car....
u can try connecting the ig2 wire from the remote start module to the ig1 wire from the ignition key. It means that the ig2 wire from the remote start module is delivering 12v+ output to both ig1 and ig2 of the ignition key. You can test it out first, and see if the problem goes away.... if it does, then you can install a relay to maintain 12v+ output into that ig1 wire in the ignition key.
