I remove the stock head unit from my 1997 honda prelude and now no longer have keyless entry so i bought a commando ke-30 remote keyless entry system. So in trying to install it i have found that the three wire go to the switch dont leave the door and im having problems trying to run a wire into the door so im looking for some to tell me there is a easer way to do this so that i dont have to remove the door   panel any more or try to fish that wire to the door. So someone please help me any ideas would be great im sick of pulling my hair out.

I called honda and they said that i need the stock stero in and they could sell me a new fob and program it. so keyless   entry is not in the stock stero?

That's odd. I did a Prelude that didn't have the OEM radio but had the OEM keyless still working. I think that the Honda dealership is taking you for a ride if they say that the Prelude requires the OEM stereo for the keyless to work. You can bypass this by connecting two wires together in the back of the harness to fool the deck into thinking that the OEM stereo is still there, that's what they do with the Civic's.

really if thats is the case does anyone know what i have to do to fool the system? cause i think i can get a stock stero to use to get a programmed fob from the dealership but i would like to put the new deck back in. or if some one know how to program a fob without the stock stero?

No i dont know if i have keyless entry. but when i called honda they said 1997 prelude all came with keyless entry. when i bought it for a lot (not a honda dealership) they didnt give me a fob or said if it had K/E. is there a way to find that out for sure? how would you program the K/E system if i have k/E? thanks for your help!!

Don't you mean S or SH ? Didn't know that Honda made a Prelude DX edition ? Something different in the USA than Canada ?
