Hi...I just recently installed a Crimestopper 2011 remote starter/ keyless entry in my 1999 Tahoe and am having problems when my car is idling (forward and reverse) If I backup with no gas it goes about 10 ft then feels like the brakes are being applied and comes to a stop and the same if i am idling forward. Once I give it some gas and dont get below 5mph or so everything is normal. This started happening right after everything was finished. Does anyone have any ideas or heard of this ever happening and know what i need to do? Thanks
There is nothing unusual about this vehicle. It is a pretty straight forward install. For ignition wires did you power up the Pink AND White? Where did you get your tach wire and did you confirm it is correct? Does your transmission shift indicator light up when you start with remote start? Does it does this when you start it with the key as well or only the remote start? IS you check engine light on?
Did you happen to push the park brake when you were installing? Is there any chance it is sticking from corrosion and lack of use? This is most likely the cause.
As far as pushing in the parking brake when i was installing...yes i did. It has been released of course but do you know what i need to do, if thats thats the problem, to keep it from sticking? Should i push it in and release it a few times? Any ideas? Thanks. I will check the other questions and post another reply.
You could push it in and release it a few times NOT right to the floor but just a bit. If you keep driving it, it will likely release itself. The other option is to pull the wheels off and drums off. :)
Jack it up and see if the wheels spin freely or if the brakes are dragging.
