I am new to this site, so I hope I picked the right category to post this in. Also, I did a search and browsed through a few pages of the forum before I posted this topic, and I didn't see anything, but if there is anything already posted about this, or that you think would help me, please let me know. I am trying to figure out how to install a trunk release button under the the dash in my car. It was an option for my car and there is an indentation in the dash panel where the button would have gone if the option had been installed when the car was bought. I am trying to figure out firstly, what parts do I need in order to make this work, and secondly what will be involved in the installation. I don't really know what I'm doing with car electronics, so I thought this seemed like a relatively simple task to start with. However, please keep in mind that I really don't know what I'm doing, what stuff looks like, where to find it, etc... sorry about this, I appreciate any help you can give. ------------- If, at the end of the trip, everyone is still alive, you did a good job driving. U might want to check your TRUNK Latch and behind the Dash. A lot of those cars came PRE-wired for Trunk Release and all you had to do is put he Trunk Motor / Solinoid in and drill a hole for the switch and plug it in. There should be a loose Black Plug near the Trunk Latch and a Loose Plug behind Dash near the Trunk Release Hole
There are Aftermarket Motors that mount & wire just like Factory or check your Dealer. If not PM me and I will try to locate one.................

Thank you. Actually, I did notice the black plug by the latch and I noticed that it matched a picture for a part of the trunk release system. I haven't checked under the dash yet, I suppose I would have to take off that panel, which I haven't taken the time to figure out how to do yet. However, I do have the solenoid. I just wasn't sure if that was actually something I needed, or if I did something stupid in ordering it. You mentioned a switch, what kind of switch would I need, and where could I find it? ------------- If, at the end of the trip, everyone is still alive, you did a good job driving. Factory or OEM Trunk Motor goes right on top of Trunk Latch................
There should be 2 holes for Motor...........It's pretty simple
If U R using a Universal Motor, then it is a little more trouble

I'm not really sure, what kind of motor it is, how can I tell the difference?

Okay, I got back into the trunk, and I didn't find any open plugs or anything, but I did find someting that looks like this already plugged in. https://www.rockauto.com/ref/SMP/SMPDetail2.html?DS466.jpg When I took off the dash panel, I found something that looks like this at the end of a green and black wire, bundled up by the hloe for the trunk release switch. https://www.rockauto.com/ref/ACDelco/Detail.html?PT533.jpg I'm not really sure what I need to do at this point though. Is there some extra wiring that I will need to put in for the solenoid? And how does the switch hook up? ------------- If, at the end of the trip, everyone is still alive, you did a good job driving.
