so i traded in my isuzu model P.O.S., and just recently bought a 99 Honda Prelude.  The prelude came with a factory alarm i think (it says "DEI" on the back, pretty budget looking, only two buttons, " i " and " ii "), and it is giving me some grief.

first of all, i cannot for the life of me find the valet switch.  Being this is my first alarm, i don't even know where to begin (under the steering wheel/hood?).

secondly, it turns on automatically after 30 sec.  I would like to disable this setting if possible, can i do this myself easily or do i need to see a professional?

you all have probably got these dumb questions a million times, but your help would be greatly appreciated.  feel free to email me or just respond to this forum.  thanks.

You should have two button's on your remote right? Well, the usual sequence to put the alarm on valet will be to follow this, first push button 1, then button 2 then 1again and it should be in valet will the led constant and not blinking. When you do this make sure that the door is open.

Look on the back of the DEI unit ( this is not a factory alarm by the way ), and write down the model number andpost it here. We will try to find you the owner's manual for it.

i haven't tried Sound Pressure's method yet, but i will soon.

as for the model number, i'm not sure.  there are three numbers on the back:

Des. 333,634

800-274-0200

FCC ID: EZSDEI491

thanks!

Thats the info on the remote, we need the info from the brain under the dash. It's about the size of a deck of cards, black and will most likely be zip tied to a factory wire loom.

The 491T was used with many different DEI systems, regardless, it's a good system and worth having the install re-checked or even re-done.

My guess is an Automate, but with the brain's model number, as stated, we'll get you the info needed.
