Hi all,

I bought a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria recently that had a Clifford Concept 20 alarm that didn't work. A local shop was nice enough to send it to Clifford for replacement. I got a Concept 200 as a replacement. Plugged it in and "no go". I got the wiring instruction/diagram for the Concept 20 and 200 thru this site. Upon comparison; looks like I'll have to reuse the Concept 20's "molex" connector to connect to the 200, and resplice the wiring to make the new alarm work. My question concerns the door lock portion as the Concept 20 had 6 wires to connect to the car's door lock wiring whereas the Concept 200 uses only 2. The wiring diagram refers the installer to the "Door Lock/Unlock Section of This Binder". Can someone post/refer me to a copy of this part of the Binder?

Your door lock work in reversal polarity so if you want to learn from the manual there it is

there is also a link for your car there is two type of door lock system in those crownvic positive and reversal

Did you car originally come with keyless entry?

If so, just hook up the lock/unlock wires from the alarm to the car's lock/unlock wires.

Then go into programming mode, and change the polarity to (+).

Thanks to you two (Montrealler & OmarR) for the info! The car was a former California Highway Patrol car. So it's pretty basic as far as options go. No factory keyless entry; door lock switch doesn't work w/o the alarm module hooked up. Thanks Montrealler for the link to the doorlock manual. Got some reading to do!

Alright, I read the Door Locking Systems Wiring Guide courtesy of Montrealler. Thanks again! So since my car has no keyless entry and the doorlock/unlock switch doesn't work w/o the old Clifford hooked up; I've got the "5-wire"/"reverse polarity" deal to work with. So I need to find the door lock wire(pink/black) and unlock wire(RED / orange) and connect with 2 relays per the diagram on page 18 for "5-wire relay hookup". Since the car's at my sister's place; I haven't looked at the wiring yet. Just trying to sort things out before I get into it. The diagram shows the negative signal from the alarm going to terminal 86. The diagram for reverse polarity on page 6 looks identical except that the negative signal from the alarm goes to terminal 85. While I understand it doesn't matter in this case which side of the coil gets the negative signal since no diodes are shown; how about if the relays the previous installer put in have diodes? I believe that the striped side normally "sees" 12v, I suppose that I've got to make sure the wire from the alarm goes to the side opposite of the stripe since its negative?

Please help out as I've always been confused as to when diodes are needed.
