Hi,
New to this forum. I'm trying to install a Clifford Matrix 3.5 in my 2004 Lincoln Navigator. I have the directech printout for my vehicle and also searched through the web and this forum and cannot find exactly where tachometer outputs are in my car. The directech says "not RED / lt green and location is any ignition coil"... are they talking about under the hood at the actual ignition coils?? There must be a wire that comes from the coil into the dash area... right?? If not... exactly where is this ignition coil in my car and which wire (color) should I be using?? How can I test to confirm I'm tapping into the correct wire?? And Do I need a diode in-line with the tap??
Hope someone have done a 2004 navigator and can help with the location of the coil wires in my car. Thanks!!

If your rig has the 5.4L you have a coil at each spark plug. Follow the DEI instructions for wire colors
If you have the other engine...you can get the tach at the PCM pass. side under hood firewall middle conector WHITE/ red wire on the right hand side of the plug

My Navigator is 5.4L. Am I correct to assume the coil wire does not run back into the PCM or anywhere else inside the car?? I hate to tap at the plugs. If this is absolutely necessary... what are the wire colors?? DEI instructions simply say "not RED / lt green"
Also... should I use a diode at all since it should be AC here and diode may not work?? right??
thanks!

BTW, I was just under my hood... with the plastic engine top cover removed... I can see the coil( or sensor) wire coming out at an angle on each spark plug. Without removing the fuel injector/throttle assembly on top of the engine, I have access to only the passenger side front plug and can see the wire colors are red and brown. I can barely reach the second passenger side plug and the color is red and white. With a stick poking... I see all 8 plugs have the red wire and the color of the other wire is all different. Now the passenger side wire harness runs DOWN to the bottom of the engine compartment. I cannot see where the driver side's harness is going to unless I start unbolting components attached to the engine... which is something I prefer not to do.
The question is... the passenger side hardness that runs down to the bottom of the engine compartment... where does this harness surface again?? It must be pluged into some sort of a module... the PCM?? I tried tracing and looking but can't find where the harness ends up. Basically. I'm trying to find the coil wire for the tachometer input for the Matrix 3.5. Can someone confirm the 2 pin wire plug which plugs into the sparkplug at an angle is the correct wire I need to tap into? And does this harness end up somewhere else away from the engine (afraid of heat and other issues with a tap so close to the engine).
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I guess no one knows about where the coil wires end up on a Lincoln Navigator (besides at the spark plug)?? :-(
One more question on the 04 navigator... I bought a 556U-W for the remote start transponder key bypass... Is this the correct module?? Should I have purchased the 555P or the 555F instead? the 555P and 555F does not require a key in the module... right?? If the 556U-W is the only one I can use or is correct... do I need to use the loop antenna or can I cut the loop and tap it into the OEM transponder wires?? If I can tap it instead... which wire from the 556U-W should I tap into which OEM wire?
Thanks!
