The factory alarm is actually the van's Body Control Module located above the passenger's kick panel. The alarm protects the contents of the vehicle. If a door is opened with the alarm armed, the horn sounds and the lights flash. If the van is eqipped with this, it will have a red LED top center of the dash pad, near the windshield. The van also has an anti-theft system known as Passkey III. This uses a transponder in the head of the key to prevent the van from being hot-wired and started. It prevents the starter and fuel pump from working. The two systems are separate.
