Hi, I have installed an remote start alarm on a 2001 montecarlo. I am having toruble with  the remote start feature. I have installed the DEI 555l and the car will not start, it wont even turnover. I do all the voltage check at the relay and when the alarm engages the starter, i get the 12volt at the start wire, but it wont start. Now I am confused as I thought passlock 1 disengages the starter and fuel, and the passlock 2 disengages trhe fuel only. Someone please help. The wires that are coming out of the lock cylinder colors are Black,White, and Yellow. There is also 2 thin wires coming out of the main ignition wire on top of the switch, I think one of them is black and whit, and the other is blue or green. Like I said I hooked up the 555l and still no crank/turnover. When I put the key in the the ignition in the turn position and I apply 12volt to the start wire, it starts. Someone please help.

The Monte Carlo uses Passlock II and you should be setting the 555L to bypass a Passlock II system. Did you test the ground when running wire for (-) current ? Also, make sure that you have the proper side of the starter disable relay on the motor side of the cut starter wire ( if you installed this ). If you did not, look at the wiring for your Passlock II bypass.

When you test the ground when running wire for negative current what do you mean? There is voltage flowing through the relay when in remote start as I test it, but the starter will not engage under remote start.

The BLUE / Black wire on 555L needs ground while Starting & Running.  Be sure you have the correct wire from your RS hooked to it.

Also, make sure you have programmed ( Learned ) the 555L

ok why dont you try to this.  diconnect the ground when running wire, now put the key into the cylinder but do not turn it.   now remote start the car. does it start? if so there is a problem with the bypass. if it does not start tehn there is a problem  with the remote start wiring.. like mentioned above, if you have a kill relay makes sure that the remote start wire is on the motor side of the kill relay.
