I have a show car that I want to install a push start button on. Is there any that i can install a push button start without having to put the key into the ignition? I just want to get inside the car and push the button for it to start, I've talked to a few other ppl and they've said that i must turn the key to ON then push the button....anyway to go around this? since the steering wheel need to be unlocked

break the key in the ignition to permanently unlock the column. Fiberglass it over. Install a switch to turn on your ign and acc. Have the button connected to the starter through a relay.

Or a cooler one would be have the button connected to a remote start module and have it start your car when you push the button and then when your ready to drive off you flip a switch.

You do not have to leave a key in ignition..however, you encounter the risk of anybody starting your car if you bypass the key mechanism. It is a maze of relays and fuses which cannot be explained without knowing the car since it depends on wiring. What I would like to see is retrofit kits with transponders for older cars that will let you have this convenience.

This conversation will take on sematic understones, so, I'm going to leave it at this. Everything we do with car security can be considered hotwiring. Any modification to a car is hacking (not cracking) No instructions are being given here to hotwire a car other than the fact of readily available information to car wiring on the Internet. No mention of prying open doors, pulling steering shrouds and shorting out wires, so, no hotwiring in my book. Take what knowledge that is imparted here with no guarantees whatsoever and use it wisely.

Yes it is possible. All you need is relays, push button starter and a hide away switch.

I think we're getting waaaay off topic here.  All Docfnky wanted to know was CAN it be done, and would someone be so kind as to tell him how to do it.  If you don't think it's a good idea for him to do it then by all means, don't tell him how its done.  If someone else does, post a quick note as to why you thing its a bad idea and then DROP IT!  Some of these psuedo-flame wars that I see going on here are getting out of hand.  A LOT of people here claim to be professionals, however their conduct suggests they are hacks.

The 2006 Lexus GS300/430 has a push button start. But it also uses an immobilizer to prevent theft.

It may be possible to incorperate one into the RX330, but you will need a bunch of relays, and a way to bypass (not permanently) the immboilizer.

On the GS you press the button once for ACC, twice for ON, and three times shuts it off. If your foot is on the brake when you push it, the car will start.

You might have to use all or some of the parts from a remote start.

^^^ that's exactly what i wanted to know....guess i just need to figure out how the steering wheel unlocks itself when you put a key in...if i can figure that out then it's all good from there
