I have an '03 Stratus that I bought used. It didn't come with any key fobs so I took that as being that it has no alarm or keyless entry. So I bought myself an alarm system and thanks to this great site I'm confident that I can install it now. As I was finding the wires that I need to connect to, I find that the wires for the factory alarm is already wired. Wires like the 'Disarm defeat', 'Factory alarm arm' and 'Factory alarm disarm'. I can't trace to where they go, but one end of them comes from the BCM, then goes through a connector or two then deep inside the harness. My question is, if my car is already wired for an alarm, couldn't I just get a factory keyfob and take it to the dealer and have him program it? The main wires I need to connect to from my after market alarm is already seperated from the main harness and goes to a connector, ie 'power lock/unlock', 'lock/unlock motor', 'trunk release'.(which makes the wiring a little easier). My last question is when I connect my relays to the door lock wires, do I connect them to the power unlock/lock wire or the motor lock/unlock wires. Thanks for any insight.

Call or go to your MOPAR Dealer and have them "Run " the V.I.N. Number and that will tell you what came on your Vehicle.
Or PM me with the whole V.I.N. Number and I will get it for you.
Factory Security System isn't that bad for the cost of the Remotes & NO Labor ------------- MO

ok thanks. I'll call the dealer in the morning. Would you by chance know when I connect my relays to the door lock wires, do I connect them to the power unlock/lock wire or the motor lock/unlock wires? Just in case there's no way to to use the factory alarm. Again thanks for any reply.

Hi,
I bought an Option Group car alarm, (op168). I Followed the instruction diagram that came with the alarm but I kept blowing fuses with the relays for the door locks. So I tried using the diagram from a similar alarm. I stopped blowing fuses but now my door lock mechanism won't work at all even with no relays. I have an '03 Dodge Stratus sedan with electric door locks. This is the schematic that was sent with the alarm.
87 +12V
85 +12V
87a GND
86 Alarm input
30 to motor
This was the same for both relays. I really need help on the correct wiring format for the relays on this car. Now I have seen a diagram for a Dodge caravan where you use resistors instead of relays but it didn't say what year caravan or if it was for other models too. The other relay diagram I tried was
87 & 86 +12V
87a GND
85 Alarm input
30 to motor
The other relay was the same except 86 is alarm input and 85 is +12V.
Any help is greatly apreciated. Thanks.

| Power Lock | WHITE/ green | + | conn. C4, pin 15 @ BCM | Notes: Lock requires a positive trigger thru a 1800 ohm resistor. Unlock requires a positive trigger thru a 750 ohm resistor. MUST use relays.
The BCM (Body Control Module) is attached to the fuse/relay box at the end of the dash on the driver side. Connector C4 is a 26 pin plug on the bottom edge of the BCM.
Can also use Directed 457C or 456L interface modules. | | Power Unlock | same wire as power lock | |
you need two relays for this and the right resistor ------------- how own your mind, control your life.

well first you have to know what sends you brain positive or negative. the relays should be 87 12v fused 86 lock from brain 85 ground 30 1800 ohm resistor goes into WHITE/ green Note: if the alarm sends negative pulse instead positive pulse for door locks 85 has to be 12v Do the same for unlock but you need 750 ohm resistor for unlock ------------- how own your mind, control your life.

Howdy, First, thank you for looking. Second, I have an '03 Stratus sedan that I'm putting an alarm in. All the instructions I get says that I have to have relays setup in conjuction with resistors. 1.8 K Ohm for lock and 750 Ohm for unlock. My question is... how do you set up the relays. I've seen so many diagrams but none of them work. Please I really need help!!!!!!!  I'm desperate for the correct info. Hey that worked!!!!!!! Thanks a million. But unfortunately, I must have somehow burned something out because now my door locks won't lock. I hear it clicking in the BCM, both with the switch and with the alarm and also when I get to 17 Mph. All of my fuses are good.... maybe I fried the actuators themselves?? Or is there a fuse hidden somewhere?? Thanks for anymore input.

If the switch is working and if you haven't put any negative ground on to the door lock wire. Nothing is broken or fried. You may just not have gotten the correct resistor for it to work. Play with different value resistor and see if that helps. ------------- Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

No, I even diconnected everything I hooked up and the same thing.... switch works(both doors), 17 Mph, but it still doesn't lock the doors. As I mentioned earlier, I hear it clicking at the BCM, but the door locks won't engage. I pulled the door panel to see if I could test the actuator but it's so deep in the door itself.... I can't get to it. Oh this sucks. I finally get the alarm to work and now this. And I've tried so many relay diagrams that was said to be for (my vehicle) it's no wonder it's fried. So I can't remember if I did put a negative on the door lock wire. But I do thank you pencil for giving me the correct schematic. If you or anyone have any furthur ideas please please please let me know. Thanks.
