Think stickers that advertise alarms and security features actually deters thieves? Or do you think the stickers allow a theif a better idea on how to break into a vehicle successfully?

Just wondering who here actually sports security badges, and whether or not its an advantage or disadvantage.

Like if you had a GPS tracking system, a GPS sticker would scare em?

Yeah, put a GPS sticker on your car and just let the theif know to take it out of the car.

Nothing will really scare a thief away. If they "want" something, they will try to get it. Its like buying door lock LED's for an alarm.

i take stickers with a grain of salt. I would say the LED lets the thief know there is an alarm. The sticker lets them know which kind so they can go look up the manual and override it.

I say they help deter to a point. If you really have something they want, my guess they'd do some research on how to disarm it. Most alarms need the key in ignition anyways to disarm the car. Though there are ways to make the alarm 'think' the key is there.

If his high school teachers telling him why he should not smoke crack didn't work, your sticker ain't gonna do shhh. Put a Pitbull in the car, no one will touch it!!

Yea no kidding!
I always look at those neat little clear press-on stickers that come with every new stereo part "Alpine" "JL Audio" "OPTIMA" or whatever...
I mean.. I've found my trunk empty before all that stuff does is scream "bash rear quarter-window in and have a look around"

Anyone ever install an alarm w/out the LED?  So if anyone breaks-in, they'll be surprised by the alarm.  Of course the opposite is also true.  Someone might not mess with your car if they knew there was an alarm.  Can't win them all.posted_image

My car has the IASCA COMPETITOR sticker on it. It's been there for like 5 years and no one has ever touched my honda accord.

Actually, do you really want someone to get that far just to surprise them with a siren?

kinda got a laugh out of that one...It is up to you...is it a visual deterrent...Yes...for most thieves...L.E.D...sticker...most will probably move on....but like the crack statement made ...some are good enough to get in and  some just dont care(crackheads)...so i think your car will be seen more by the everyday joes....so throw the sticker on...or another model sticker...fire up that L.E.D....and a wisp of lady-luck...GOOD LUCK EITHER WAY...(though you never know...someone might be watching you right now...!)
