Is a security bypass module required for the 2000 Cherokee. This vehicle has an encoded key.

Thanks Rick

Well, what are you trying to install, alarm, rs, or both?

Yes an immobilizer defeat is needed. The best way to integrate into the vehicle's systems is with a module as well since it is databus.

someone else had installed an alarm in this vehicle 3 years ago. It has been acting up. The company has replaced the module twice under some recall. I now have this vehicle dealing with a no start which has happened 4 times this year. I have an intermittant databus failure and security light flashing . Vehicle will start and shut down after 10 sec. I will use my DRB to check this PCM but was curious if the alarm would work if a bypass module was not installed.
