I've just installed a Viper 550 ESP in a 2000 Chevy Impala.
The Trunk pop only works when the ignition is on (with the button or the remote). I can not figure out what to wire to where to allow the trunk pop (both the button and the remote) to function when the ignition it off. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Darin

Power Lock ORANGE / black - gray 24-pin plug @ BCM
Notes: Lock and unlock use the same wire. Lock requires a negative trigger with a 470 ohm resistor in-line. Unlock is negative trigger. Must use relays.
The BCM is located above the brake pedal. It is a plastic box with three plugs that face the firewall.
Power Unlock same wire as lock
Lock Motor see notes
Notes: Installation of factory keyless upgrade alarm is not recommended on this vehicle because the door lock motor wires rest at approximately 7 volts.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

Thanks for your response but that doesn't answer my question at all. I have the output from the brain wired to the trunk switch properly. But it only works if the key is in the run/acc position. Some part of the trunk release circuit is switched with the ignition and I can't figure out what it is and how to correct it.

UMmmm....What about the otherside of the wire on the switch? Have you tested the otherside and see if that will work?

Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

Here's what is happening...
At the trunk switch there are two wires (black and BLACK/ white). BLACK/ white appears to be the one that needs to be taped into. It's listed as a NEG trigger.
BLACK/ white shows 12V whether the IGN is on or off.
Black appears to be isolated (It doesn't show 12V, and it isn't connected to common ground).
The factory switch is a standard momentary N/O switch. Common sense says that it applys the 12V from BLACK/ White to the Black wire. However applying another 12V lead to the black wire does nothing. So obviosly there is something here that I am missing or don't undertand....

I'd be checking the Meter & connections of your meter..........
Unless U have a Impala that has a problem or someone has changed wiring, the BLACK wire at Switch would be a Negative to Open Trunk. The Positive for trunk is located at BCM.
BLACK / White should be Ground..........
Check BCM wires also.........
Be sure nothing else is tapped into wires from BCM, Relay or Trunk wires
