i've been looking at the new python 900 alarm, 4 button with responder/tranceiver but i am wondering why it says remote start is optional? i thought all the tranceiver remote units had it in-built?

will i have to add on another module to make remote start work?

i ask, because depending on price of the add-onn module, i can get the 881XP (which apparently has remote start already) for like AUS $30 more.... would it be much better to get that?  i would like to have the remote adjustable shock sensor on the 900... but i guess its not a necessity, adjust  it once or twice maybe...

i own a 5litre VL Calais carby-fed.... will it be very difficult to wire up? i have a pretty good knowledge of electrics, but can access a good installer if i get in any trouble.

(PS. most of u american guys won't know what a VL Commodore is, but if there's any Aussie installers out there who can help, it'd be greatly appreciated)

i'd still like all professional and any personal opinions on the alarms though from anyone.

My shop ordered the 900 when they were announced in January. We have yet to receive them. I don't think they are out yet.

The 900 doesn't have a remote start built in. You need to add a unit like a Valet 561T onto it for remote start. Then one of the aux. output channels gets programmed to 'remote start output'. When you activate that output it will show the puff of smoke on the remote indicating the car has started. Hopefully it will also bypass the ignition input and shock sensor inputs too, but I haven't noticed if it says that in the manual.
