Hi,

I bought a'98 ford crown victoria that had a non-working concept 20 in it.  A local shop was nice enough to help me send it to Clifford for a replacement.  The concept 200 that I got as a replacement didn't work when I plugged it into the original alarm harness.  It wasn't till I looked up the alarm install pics on this site that I realized the pin connections weren't the same.  So I finished "re-wiring" the alarm this weekend and realize that I can't use the original transmitter to arm/disarm since the concept 20 was an older ACG while the 200 is AGC2.  The problem I've encountered is that the ignition switch controlled Autolock/Autounlock feature isn't working.  It shouldn't have anything to do with the transmitters, so I'm stumped.  I'll stop by the shop that helped me out last time to pick up the transmitter this Friday but I'd like to resolve this mystery by then.  I'm not even sure if they'll want to tackle this problem since I started the install.  Before I started, another shop didn't want to do the job since the concept 20 was already there!  Sorry if the posting is too long!

The concept 200's default programming is set to "RPM-dependent" doorlocking, so you need to either hook up the tach signal wire, or re-program the Auto-lock feature to "instant".

Glad someone has replied!  I had suspected that and did that already.  When I looked into the original "install" for the concept 20; the doorlock wire hooked up to the on-board relays in the alarm was yel (not pink/yel) and the door unlock wire was pink (not pink/grn).  As the concept 200 didn't have on-board relays; I added my own with the factory lock/unlock wires switch side going to term 87a, lock/unlock wires motor side to term 30, +12v to term 86 and 87, and term 85 getting -sig from alarm. I also programmed the alarm for negative door polarity.  When I apply ground to term 85 of the relay, the doors lock and unlock fine.  The alarms pins for the lock/unlock output rest at +12v. Just seems the alarm's not putting the -sig out with the ignition.

Wow, I was going to say check your doorlock relays, but it sounds like they're hooked up right (especially if you tested them with ground and they work fine). Since you say you've already programmed to negative output and "instant" on the auto-lock feature it sounds like you've tried everything.

The only other things I would test are to make sure that you have ignition power going to the WHITE/ brown wire of the alarm (but it sounds like you do, if you are able to program throught the valet switch). It sounds to me like you have a bad brain (not you the alarm posted_image).

The last thing I'd try is to set the auto-lock feature back to rpm-dependent and hooking up the tach signal to see if that function works.

I hope it's the brain, but it'll probably cost me just to have the shop verify it.  As least that means the install was ok.  I don't plan on having the anti-carjacking feature on; so I'm not gonna try the tach wire hookup. Thanks for the pointer though.  I'll stop by the shop tommorrow to see what they say when I buy the transmitter.  This concept 200 is already a replacement for the original non-working concept 20.  Are the replacements "re-furbished" units?

Don't know about refurbished or not. But if it were refurbished, I'd imagine that it would be fully tested before sent out.

I'm still suprised that they sent you a Concept 200 to replace a Concept 20. The 200 is more like a G4 version of a 60, and the 100 is more of a G4 replacement of a 20. And it's really dumb of them to not give you the remotes for the 200 when clearly G4 alarms are not compatible with the ACG remotes. But anyhow, good luck on the brain.

Well, the shop I went to didn't have a remote to sell.  So I went to another that did. They were nice enough to program it in and noticed that the Concept 200 didn't have an antenna.  So they put one in.  The alarm armed/disarmed fine.  Just no autolock/unlock again.  Did quick check on my doorlock relays-ok, as well as output from alarm- not ok. Without checking my programming, the shop said with the cost of 2 remotes, the antenna, and additional diagnostics; I'd be pretty close to a new Arrow 5 alarm installed.  Since the Arrow didn't have a few of the features I'd like; I wanted the Concept 450 instead.  Installed price of the Concept was more than I expected; so they'll sell it to me for less than installed price of the Arrow.  Thanks Cosmoworks for your help.  I'll post again after the install!

Glad that you found a shop willing to help you out... and you're right, the 450 is more of a 200 equivalent than the Arrow 5 (plus the Arrow 5 remotes look nasty... even though you can use the 450 remotes instead).

For future reference though, there's a guy that sells Clifford alarm parts all day long on ebay. You can get Concept 200/450 remotes from him for about $30. He'll also sell you the antenna, valet switch, led, and whatever other Clifford missing parts you need (except the brain).

The shop that was gonna sell me the 450 ran out of em. So I got an Intelliguard 750 for an extra $25 even though it's more "alarm" than I need.  For price comparisions I called around and also found this site:   //www.adelcom.net/Clifford1.htm

Are these guys reliable?

BTW,  can someone post the install diagram for a Clifford ACE 500

I installed this in my '66 Mustang but the original's all marked up
