I've got a 2005 Tundra Double Cab and just about ready to install a Clifford RSX 3.5 alarm. The Tundra has no factory alarm but comes with keyless remote.

My question: Do I need to use the Clifford relay interface that comes in the box with the alarm?

I've got 3 alarm installs under my belt, but in every case I had to install both the relays and door actuators. It was straight foward on those installs. I've never done one with factory keyless entry and I would assume that it comes with relays already installed and used by the factory keyless entry. Meaning there's no need to use the clifford relay interface???

I browsed this forum but couldn't come to a conclusion if the Clifford relay interface is to be installed to make the doorlocks work with the alarm. I found the wiring diagram and the diodes to be used within this forum, that's no problem at all.

thanks in advance

The door lock wire colors are the same as those listed for the Sequoia. Use this diagram

thank you for the quick reply, but my question is still unanswered

do I need to use the "Cifford relay interface assembly" that came with the alarm?

I've got that diagram from this forum and appreciate it. But in the pic, is that the factory relay or should I add that relay(use the Clifford relay interface unit)with the alarm install.

That is the factory relay. anytime you are connecting doorlocks before the factory relay, you do not need a relay, (unless you need it to change the polarity of your wire). Since your accessing the wire before the factory relay, the relay your alarm included will not be needed.

Velocity Motors, after further review of that diagram, under the title it states, Toyota vehicles require door interface to be installed in driver/passenger door.require

Thank you!

In this case you need an outboard relay ( SPDT 30/40 amp ) for this diagram to work. If your alarm system has alternating polarity relays built in you have to set it up to trigger (-) and add a relay.

geez, I guess I'll just spend alittle more time on this,\ install an outboard relay(SPDT)per diagram and go from there. Whatever happens, happens.

the module he is referring to is the 451M which comes w/all Matrix product and yes you should use it for no other than to protect the internal doorlock outputs in the brain....

yes use that 451M, itll save some space inside that door panel.

i remember Draasch(member here) did an 04 double cab tundra and he had trouble w/ the unock not having enough amperage to power the unlock. the fine print on directFAX #1070 will state something like it w/ the solution.

can someone tell me where the door trigger wires are located? I've removed the fuse box and there's alot of wires back there, hahaha. there's a black, gray, white connector but no hints of the correct 4 door trigger wires.

Ok, i found the BECU on the firewall behing the fuse box, but, I don't think the 2 rear doors RED / white wires on both the gray and black connectors are the correct ones. As I ohm the either wires for the rear doors respectively none of them will short to ground. The Front 2 doors will short to ground when closed.

I had to ditch the 451M DEI relay pack, spent 1/4 day trying to make it work. Used a SPDT and the door locks work fine and dandy. I hope it keeps on working correctly as I've still go to hook up the door triggers. Still not convinced the RED / white wires for the rear doors are the correct ones. I looked at the door pins on all the doors, the front two doors are the correct color coded wires at the BECU but the two rear doors pins are BLACK/ with red stripe. I'll have to take a further look the BECU connectors, at first glance theres none. Not much room back there, LOL.

This will help you find your door trigger wires:

All the following wires are found at the BODY ECU under the driver's side dash to the far left. WHITE (pin-8 on 18-pin plug) catches all doors. For separate door triggers, use GRAY/RED (pin-15) Driver's door, RED / WHITE (pin-16) Rear left door, both found on 18-pin plug. LT.GREEN/ BLACK (pin-8) Passenger door, RED / WHITE (pin-4) Rear right door, both found on 25-pin plug.

Hope this helps.

instal _tech, thanks for the info. I've got the basic install done before I got your info, I'll finish the hood lock, led, radar sensor on another day.

I never ran into so much trouble on my previous installs. I tried the 4 door door triggers on the BECU but think soldering on the 1N4001 diodes with stripe side to brains was wrong. I direct connected the alarm door trigger wire to the keylock lite convience lamp and the door trigger circut worked, then I added the diode and you all know what happened, hahahaha, I had to install diode strip side to keylock convience lamp.

I appreciate all the help from everyone on www.the12volt.com forum!
