Subject: Tach wire for 2001 Civic

I am installing a Clifford Solaris in a 2001 Honda Civic and was wondering if i could use the tach wire plugged into the cruise control module? Or is this even a tach wire. I see a blue one and i am assuming it is the tach wire. I know i could connect it on the coil but i'm thinking that the closer the better. I also read on some previous posts that i could get a signal from a two wire prong on the passenger's side of the battery. Maybe i am just stupid and blind but i can't find it. Or if i am even looking in the right place. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

     Spart

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but if your Solaris has tachless mode I would use that. Honda's have very reliable signals when it comes to reading voltage. Otherwise I would keep looking for that 2-pin test connection on the passenger side of the battery.

Don't assume anything and use your DMM before making any connections. The plug is near the front of the car by battery on the passenger side.

I would doubt very much that there is a tach signal going to the cruise control if it is factory cruise.

find the tach wire from the distributor and then follow it up to the upper side where it connects by the firewall and do a connuity check, thats the closes I got and just ran a wire inside like an amp would, it's to hard to find inside, unless you have a schematic diagram for the civic, turn your meter on ACV and ground and  check with the positive,  you should get a ACV read at 5 and when rev it goes up and down to 8 on the meter.

Ok, sorry guys, i found it and it was right where you said it was. I really appreciate you giving up your time for me. These forums are a great help and you all know your stuff. I had one more question...I need to find the wire that shows 12v while in reverse. If any of you know off hand or have the info handy i would greatly appreciate it.

Thankyou for your help,

spart

go to the backup lights directly would probably be the easiest.
