I dont know if there is a diffrence but in Directechs it says to use a 555lw. And the tach wire is white or PURPLE / white at the ignition coil or ECM. The ECM is located under the left side of the dash to the left of the column.

the "W" after the 555L just denotes "white box" vs. the horrible clam shell packaging they came out with last year....

if youre not using DEI, you may need to ground the status input wire ahead of time.

On the 555L, you will only need the following wires:
Red- 12V constant
Pink- Ignition
Black- Ground
BLACK / YELLOW- Car side of the yellow passlock wire (once cut)
Yellow- Key Side of the cut passlock yellow wire
Blue/Black- Ground when running

The purple and the black white are not necessary for passlock2.

To learn it.... simply start the car with the key onceall connections are made. Usually starting the car to learn tach is enough.

make sure you have learned tach properly as well..... this will give you the exact problem you are describing as well....it may not actually be a passlock issue....    just a thought.....

next time, place the key in the cylinder and RS. if RS is successful, go on bypassing the antitheft. dont try to do everything at once, itll only slowing you down and takes time to back track.

The Passlock contacts are only engaged once the ley is turned from the "off" position, as far as I know.   The Solution you described will work very nicely with RFID key security (PK3, Securilock, PATS, Sentry, Skim, etc.). As far as passlock 1&2 goes, the indicator of any sort of issue will most likely be a starting with the key issue when initially starting the car after installation completion to learn tach. You end up with the lovely start-die-flashing security light. Same thing if the bypass is the issue. Starts with key fine..... remote start dies, flasing, lockout.
